Description:

The Project considers pilot monitoring of the trans-boundary basin of River Nestos, and includes several activities and studies:

• the development of the necessary infrastructure in scientific instrumentation (autographic stations network),
• the development, in cooperation with Bulgaria authorities and researches, of a common methodology for the collection, analysis and processing of water quality and quantity data,
• the use of storing, processing and map presentation tools (GIS),
• and the application of mathematical models in order to describe the current situation and to test possible scenarios for the hydrologic management of the basin and the improvement of the quality of the river water, the groundwater and the coastal environment.
